Dangerous and unexpected disturbances in the power supply network, caused by technical problems as well as by induction during lightning strikes and other external factors, disrupt the normal local power supply. - Loss of power (power outage)
- Undervoltage (short-term or long-term)

- Supply frequency variation (an increase or decrease in the frequency of the voltage)
- Switching transients (a momentary interruption of the supply lasting nanoseconds)
- Harmonic distortion (severe distortion of the supply voltage)
