AVR or UPS
AVR or UPS? How they differ, when a voltage stabilizer is enough, when you need battery runtime and how the two work together in your installation.
How do AVRs differ from UPS systems? Both AVRs and UPS systems are critically important for powering and protecting electrical equipment. The key difference is that AVRs have no batteries to give your equipment runtime in the event of a complete power outage.
An AVR can also be used in inductive applications, such as low-frequency equipment and heating and cooling systems, where a UPS is not compatible.
Like UPS systems, AVRs are installed either at the main distribution board or directly upstream of the connected equipment. AVRs can also be installed upstream of the UPS, or of the UPS bypass in Online double-conversion systems, so that if a static bypass occurs, the equipment still receives a stable voltage.
To make sure your business gets the right AVR or UPS power quality solution, and implements it in the most appropriate way, you will need to work with a reliable power solutions provider. Such a provider will be able to effectively assess, design and implement a compatible AVR solution based on the electrical and environmental conditions of the specific business.
