Parallel UPS operation - Why does it matter?
What UPS parallel operation is: the Parallel-Capacity (N) and Parallel-Redundant (N + X) setups and how they add power and redundancy for critical loads.
UPS systems designed with a parallel architecture can operate simultaneously and support loads in the following ways.
Parallel-Capacity (N), where the total load demand is covered by a number of UPS units connected in parallel, without providing redundancy.
Parallel-Redundant (N + X). This parallel architecture offers high reliability and protection for highly critical applications. UPS units that support this architecture are connected in parallel and share the total load of the application in such a way that, if one UPS fails, the others can instantly support the required load.
The Tescom Hellas Prime Plus is an example of a UPS that supports parallel operation.
